Here is another photo of my Christmas in Paris quilt that is coming together very nicely.  Its a mixture of piecing and applique.  The photo from yesterday is a shot of the applique that make up the second border. This quilt is only made up of 4 different materials and its just fabulous.
I am enjoying making this and I do believe I will be a bit sad to see it finished.
BUT that will only last a little time as I am sure I will not be at a loss as to what to start next :)

I Love to cook and my family will tell you when I get on a roll, look out.

One of my favourite things to bake are cupcakes, and Martha Stewarts Gingerbread Cupcakes are a real favourite in our home.
Ingredients
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (plain flour)
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick/ approx 250 gms) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2/3 cup packed dark-brown sugar
  • 1 cup treacle
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature, lightly beaten
Directions
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line 10 jumbo muffin tins with paper baking cups, and set aside. In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup water to a boil. In a bowl, combine boiling water and baking soda; set aside. In a large bowl, sift together flour, ground spices, salt, and baking powder; set aside.
  2. In an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter until light. Beat in the brown sugar until fluffy, 1 to 2 minutes. Beat in the treacle, baking-soda mixture, and flour mixture. Beat in the eggs.
  3. Fill the cupcake papers three-quarters full, making sure that the batter is divided evenly. Bake cupcakes until a toothpick inserted in the center of them comes out clean, about 30 minutes. Let cupcakes cool a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before decorating.
  4. We decorate these with a plain icing, and add our special bits and pieces such as coloured sugar, crushed up candy canes and edible flowers.

The latest Meme's Quilt in the store

This is the latest quilt we are in the process of finishing for our shop. It is by Meme's Quilts and it's called 'In The Woods'. It is a lovely, quick and very easy quilt to make. We still have to put on the twin border and then get onto the actual quilting but I think you will agree, it is pretty cute in its design. We have been very lucky in securing Meme's Patterns for our store and Sherri, while over in the States, is pretty awesome in helping us. Be sure to check back with us in the next couple of days/weeks to see all the new patterns that are on their way as I type. We are getting in new fabric every week at the moment and WE JUST CANT wait till our trees, decorations, Jim Shore and Patience Brewster start arriving next month.
Be well, be blessed, Mrs C xx

The Fabric Stash - Lisa Ride

THE FABRIC STASH
I have a little problem, It's called my fabric stash,
My husband doesn't know it, But it cost a lot of cash.
It started out as remnant pieces, I bought from a shop
But it then became addictive And I really couldn't stop.
Fat eights became fat quarters, Two metres became three
But when I purchased a whole bolt, I sought psychiatry.
I couldn't pass your patchwork shop, I had to come and see
If there was any missing piece, Inside the shop for me.
So hubby starts to realise, One fabric cupboard becomes two
He keeps me from your patchwork shop, To keep our marriage true.
So I sit at my computer, While I'm banished to the house
But he'll have to hide the Visa card, 'cause I can click a mouse!
Well, there isn't any answer, To this tale of fabric woe
For this hobby is delightful, and your fabric stash will grow.
Just remember the old saying, As you purchase with a grin
"she who dies with the most fabric, ...............................will win!"

LOVE IT LISA, thank you so much for sharing your poem with us.

Ladies, if you are going to share this poem please give Lisa the recognitionshe deserves.
